Let’s face it, Hong Kong is awash with hotels, so recommending any in particular is a bit of a tricky task. Here are some great places to stay - recommended by our Stopoverworld travellers.

Mandarin Oriental (5 stars)
541 of the finest hotel rooms you could wish to find in Hong Kong. Classically and stylishly designed, the rooms are in keeping with the hotel's general luxurious feel.
The Mandarin Oriental has 25 floors, the 24th hosting one of the hotel's finest attractions, a beautifully crafted roman styled swimming pool. As well as classy features, the hotel also enjoys a great central location - leaving you well within walking distance of SoHo, the dining district, and Lan Kwai Fong ( renowned for it's busy and colourful nightlife). A statue of the God of Happiness stands tall in the hotel lobby - how could you not have a good time!

The Peninsula (5 stars)
Few places combine tradition and modernity with the success of the Peninsula Hong Kong. The famous old hotel, first opened in the 1920's, underwent a spectacular restoration in 1994 - and while staying true to its roots it is now the height of 21st Century sophistication.
The lobby is a true sign of things to come, with imperious pillars and ornate, high ceilings. Bedrooms too are designed with elegance, yet mixed with contemporary touches such as DVD players, satellite television and air conditioning.
The hotel boasts six restaurants, each offering cuisine from all over the world.

Harbour Plaza (5 Stars)
The Harbour Plaza is in the Whampoa district on the waterfront. The hotel has excellent views over the Victoria Harbour towards the China Sea.
The hotel boasts seven restaurants and lounges on site. The Harbour Plaza also has a rooftop pool and spa tub surrounded by gardens. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle bus to the Tsimshatsui shopping are and to railway and subway stations.

Hyatt Regency Hong Kong (4 stars)
Featuring over 700 bedrooms, and 17 suites, the Hyatt Regency is a popular, and reasonably priced choice for travellers to Hong Kong.
Within walking distance of Kowloon National Park, Clock Tower and Avenue of Stars, the hotel is also located just above the MTR railway station. It is also within easy reach of the ferry, making access to central Hong Kong very easy.
Rooms are fitted with stylish antique furniture, giving the place real character - without compromising on modern amenities.

The Excelsior Hong Kong (4 stars)
The Excelsior is set in Causeway Bay, at the very heart of Hong Kong's lively entertainment scene. Certainly here, you could never be stuck for something to do. There are excellent shopping and dining facilities nearby, and even without leaving the hotel complex you can enjoy the huge fitness centre, tennis courts, excellent restaurants and spa facility.
The majority of the 884 well appointed rooms provide a wonderful view of the harbour, ensuring a stopover you'll never forget.

The Park Lane (4 Stars)
The Park Lane hotel is one of the most luxurious hotels in Hong Kong and is the only hotel which offers spectacular views of the harbour and Victoria Park. The hotel is within walking distance of Hong Kong’s major transport systems and shopping centres. The hotel also has their own shopping arcade with exclusive designer brand names. There is also a restaurant in the hotel.
The Park Lane also offers an Airport Shuttle Service which operates every 30 minutes between the Hong Kong International Airport and the hotel. The service takes approximately 60 to 80 minutes.

Novotel Century Hong Kong (4 Stars)
The Novotel Century is located in the centre of Wanchai, the popular commercial, shopping and entertainment district. The hotel is within walking distance of the Wanchai MTR station.
All 511 rooms are newly renovated and accommodation is at a reasonable price. Within the hotel there are two restaurants, a bar, a swimming pool, a gym and sauna.

Eaton Hotel Hong Kong (3.5 stars)
A contemporary hotel both inside and outside, which makes a striking first impression! The towering hotel, recently renovated, even has a swimming pool on it's rooftop terrace.
The bedrooms, of which there are almost 450, have dark wood furnishings, high ceilings and a range of modern amenities. The hotel also features restaurants and bars, and is situated in Kowloon, on the "Golden Mile" of Nathan Road. It is close to both the MTR and the Star Ferry, making it an ideal base from which to explore Hong Kong.

Ramada Kowloon (2 stars)
For stopover travellers working to a tighter budget, there are plenty of slightly cheaper hotels available. One option is the Ramada Kowloon. By no means out of the way, the hotel is nestled in amongst Kowloons shops, restaurants and nightlife.
The lobby is classy and inviting, rooms comfortable if unspectacular - and as somewhere to rest your head at night the Ramada Kowloon is certainly worth considering. Hong Kong has so much to offer that you will spend the vast majority of time outside your hotel room anyway - if that's the case then saving money on your hotel could free you up to experience more that Hong Kong has to offer.
