Katoey Cabaret
Thailand is fast becoming famous for its Katoeys, or "lady-men".
Katoeys are often more attractive than the real women and it can be difficult to discern the ‘true female’! Stopover visitors may see Katoeys on the streets, but they normally frequent clubs and bars where their beauty can be better appreciated.
The fame aspect comes from the Revues. The most famous of these are in Pattaya, but Bangkok has its own quieter versions. The one I visited was the cheaper one in Pattaya and the format was beautifully-gowned, female impersonators miming songs or doing short comedy skits.
